Remodeling Stages of Construction
Remodeling will consist of one of three stages. The following describes these three stages and what materials they involve.
When a home is first constructed, generally it is built to satisfy basic needs. The house will have the necessary bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. that allow the occupants to live humbly. This construction will come at the expense of the finish materials, such as floor coverings.
Typically, the first remodeling process will consist of renewing the finish materials that were economically installed when the house was first built. This will involve replacing materials such vinyl flooring, laminate counter-tops, and fiberglass tub/shower surrounds. The upgrades will be to tile, granite, hardwood, etc. Amateur remodelers can do “Face-Lifts”, but they must have at least a few years experience in order to get it done properly.
When you are researching for new master shower fixtures, try to find some of the less expensive brands on the market, such as Moen & Delta, they may offer you the same benefits as the more expensive brands and allow you to budget in for additional items you may want for your bathroom remodel.
If you are only remodeling the shower, tile selections can be your biggest challenge. There are many different types, styles and sizes, so choose your colors, patterns, as well as your grout, that will blend with your entire bathroom. Travertine and marble tiles are still very popular because of their soft and neutral tones. Engineered quartz or polished limestone, arranged in a narrow rectangular pattern is a very attractive style you may want to consider. Give your master shower a little pizazz by adding small stone patterns, mosaic or glass tile as an accent. Creating medallions using different shades is an excellent way to bring all your bathroom colors together. Be sure to finalize your design by arranging your patterns, including your grout color and width, in the shower area. This will give you a good visualization of your project and allow you time to consider any changes you want to make.
Consider incorporating some convenient features, like installing a bench, built-in shampoo niches and tiling the ceiling to giving your shower a finished, custom look. The use of glass block is a great way to add natural light and privacy to your shower. Complete your remodeling project with new recessed lighting and a frame less glass shower enclosure.
Incorporating energy efficiency into your remodeling project is a smart investment since most efficiency measures pay for themselves through energy savings. They also increase the value of your home or business and create a more comfortable living or working environment.
Energy efficiency is not an all-or-nothing proposition. The beauty is improvements can be staged over time. Consider the measures that make the most sense for your project. the amount of your budget, the return on investment (ROI), etc; You might seal air leaks and upgrade building insulation this year, but wait to replace your water heater until next year.
One can improve air quality and reduce health risks from mold, pollen, dust mites, radon and other pollutants by air sealing your home and ensuring adequate ventilation.
For those who have outgrown your present home, but do not want the trouble of moving, custom renovation could be an excellent choice just for you. Redesigning your present house will help you to make your house up-to-date, add space, as well as move around your present design to help make your house work with your ever changing needs. There are two methods to begin home improvement projects: the DIY way and also finding a professional company to remodel your house to suit your needs.
